Size (approx)

22cm/9" in diameter

Made from magnolia grandiflora leaves, berberis thorns and daffodil stalks.

So that the patterns can be illuminated one side of the polyhedron has been left open, as you can see from the two images where there is a light behind it.

My style of pure ephemeral nature art involves only what I find in nature, no glue is used, nothing artificial, nor lengthy processing of materials.

These sculptures are based on my short lasting ephemeral designs and those are made for a particular moment, photograph or moving image. As such those quickly fade or fall apart and the thorns have a tendency to fall out.

For this sculpture I have looked into methods to extend its longevity whilst remaining true to the ephemeral style.

Each thorn is held in place with a short section of daffodil cordage that was made at a Nature Art event at Waddesdon Manor in England in May 2025. As you can see from the included images, that cordage was made as an exploration of the colours available in daffodil stalks during the late spring die back. They weren't specifically created for this sculpture but reused and it is all now gone. I haven't yet found a material as good as those daffodils from that particular place so they add even more to this sculpture's story.

My next creation may need new techniques to develop depending on what materials I can utilise. At the time of writing this, it is work in progress.

This art work is fragile and needs to be displayed carefully. Leaf colours will fade with time and thorns still may fall out and sections of cordage may be dislodged.

Display in a dry place out of direct sunlight.

Each of my art works are one-offs, no two are the same. Materials are collected specifically from various places for each one and constructed by hand.
